Before & After

More Information

What is laser vein removal?
The purpose of this treatment is to attempt to remove, fade or significantly lighten the veins. This treatment is not a cure for vein disease, nor will it prevent further veins from developing. Multiple treatments may be necessary. The results from the treatment vary with each individual. After consultation with our doctor and if you are deemed a suitable candidate, a test patch will be carried out. 7 days later, the first treatment can be booked.
Methods other than Laser
Other methods available to treat these vessels include: electrocautery, surgery, injection of sclerosing agents and other laser or filtered light modalities. We do not offer these services at LCC.
How will it feel?
The sensation of the light is uncomfortable and may feel like a moderate to severe pinprick or burst of heat that lasts for only a few seconds, but an anaesthetic cream will be applied by the Doctor to minimise the discomfort. The area may appear reddish-purple in discoloration and on occasion, bruising may develop.
Aftercare
Following treatment the area should be treated delicately and one should avoid direct heat, such as showers, baths, saunas, sun tanning treatments or exercised. A vitamin K product such as Auriderm XO gel, which will speed the healing process, can be applied.

Photographs may be taken throughout the course of the treatment so the physician and you may assess the progress of the laser therapy.
Possible Risks
Blistering, scarring hypo-pigmentation (lightening of the skin) and hyper-pigmentation (darkening of the skin) are possible risks and complications of this procedure. Sun exposure and not adhering to post care instructions may increase the chance of complications, but you will be advised of this at your initial consultation. It is essential to use a SPF50 sun protection on exposed areas.
