What is laser hair removal?
Lasers produce a high-intensity ray of pure light which gives off heat energy. This energy is absorbed by different body tissue, depending on the colour of the laser beam. The laser light passes safely through the skin and destroys targeted cells under the surface without harming surrounding areas. The heat energy destroys the root of the hair, thus preventing further growth.
Why choose LCC?
At LCC we pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and are fully registered. We offer a free consultation for every client and continuing care and advice. We run a clinic Tuesday to Friday plus alternate Saturdays and Sundays, for your convenience. Reception is open a minimum of 5 days per week plus some Saturday's and Sunday's.
What Lasers do we use ?
At LCC we offer sophisticated technology. Our machine combines the Nd.Yag and Alex laser system which allows our practitioners to tailor treatment to the individual client requirements. Nd. Yag is used for darker skin types and Alex for paler skin types. Unlike other laser machines which have specific settings, our laser machine can be adjusted to the exact requirement, however minimal. Most lasers have specific settings which may be too high or too low. This may result in ineffective treatment or burning. Our laser is attached to a cooling machine to make your experience as comfortable as possible. For most it is not necessary, but should it be, we can provide numbing cream for the area.
Benefits of laser hair removal
Unlike shaving, laser does not irritate your skin and does not encourage ingrown hairs. Furthermore you do not get those annoying black marks that you may experience from shaving. It lasts longer than waxing and is more cost effective in the long term. It is wonderful for holidays as you will not have to shave/wax for the duration. Convenience and a permanent reduction is why so many prefer laser to other forms of hair removal.
What laser hair removal can and cannot do
Treatment works on the face or any other part of the body, including bikini area, under arms, arms, legs and stomach. It works best on new hairs that are just appearing, which is why you will need several treatments to the same area. We do not claim that it removes hair permanently, although for some people this may be the case, but it will significantly reduce re-growth which is likely to be paler and weaker.
Lasers are targeted at pigmented tissues so do not work on white, grey or platinum hair.
Are Lasers safe?
Yes. Our lasers are approved by the FDA and although powerful, our practitioners are highly skilled. We regularly update our knowledge and study scientific research to ensure we use the most effective and safest technology. We have treated thousands of very satisfied clients over the years.
Is Laser suitable for all and are there any side-effects?
Laser hair removal is not suitable for pregnant mothers or for those lactating. If you are taking Isotretinoin (Accutane) or any type of antibiotics, you will/may not be able to have laser treatments. There are other instances too, where laser hair removal may not be possible, but this will be discussed during your consultation. Any possible side-effects will also be explained. Although rare, these may include mild swelling and pigmentation which fades away soon after treatment. It is essential to closely follow the post treatment advice.
What is the post treatment Advice?
Again, this will be provided at your consultation. This includes applying a high factor sunblock to the treated area on a daily basis.
We provide specialist products to ensure you receive the best results possible. Click here for our online shop www.LCCskin.com.
How many treatments will I need?
As every client's hair growth varies and individuals react differently, it is not possible to be exact. On average, one requires a minimum of 6 treatments at 4 to 6 weekly intervals (depending on the area being treated) and then 6 – 12 monthly maintenance appointments, thereafter.
