What are Dermal Fillers?
A much more affordable alternative than surgical procedures, dermal fillers offer immediately obvious results. Injectable fillers are made from different materials and the effects on wrinkles and lines range from temporary to permanent, depending on the type of filler used. Dermal fillers are used for mid face restoration or any area with volume loss, plump up fine lines, wrinkles, some scarring, lip augmentation and non surgical rhinoplasty.
THE DERMAL INJECTABLE FILLER PROCEDURE
The filler is injected after the skin is numbed with a cream containing a local anaesthetic. The process can take approximately 30 minutes.
Temporary fillers are usually made from collagen and are derived from Hyaluronic acid which is a substance (complex sugar) that exists naturally in the body. Its most important function is to carry and bind water, deliver nutrients and hydrate the skin. The aim of the procedure is to volumize, restore and “plump” a targeted area and temporarily remove wrinkles. Because hyaluronic acid is naturally present in human skin, it does not require a pre-treatment skin test.
