A laser is a high-energy beam of light that can transfer its energy through the skin to a specific part of the body. These beams of light can vary in terms of their strength and the type of tissue that they can target. In the case of hair removal, pigment contained in the hair shaft can be targeted as can the hair follicle or root with a single specific wavelength or light generated by the laser.
This energy heats up the base of the hair follicle, which causes damage to the cells that produce hair growth. If enough damage is done, this will prevent the hair from growing any further (please see diagram below).
The effect is most obvious during what is known as the anagen phase of hair growth. That is when new hairs start to grow.
During this period of growth, the hair follicle has increased pigmentation and growth of new cells that makes it more open to damage from light treatment.
“I have been visiting the clinic for the last eight months to deal with excessive facial hair and it has solved all my problems. The professional service you offered me means that my skin has become very smooth and people have commented on how much younger I look” PRICES

We constantly invest in the very latest technology. We have lasers from leading UK and US suppliers such as Cynosure and Laserscope. By using different technologies we can tailor the treatment to your skin type and skin colour. Is laser hair removal painful?
Our laser is integrated with cooling air which blows onto the skin during treatment minimizing discomfort.
Are they safe?
Yes. All our Lasers are approved by the FDA. Although powerful, our practitioners have many years of experience and have treated thousands of clients. Who cannot have laser treatments?
This is discussed during your consultation. Examples of people who should not have treatment are pregnant mothers and patients who have used the drug isotretinoin. The area to be treated should also be clear of active infection. People must also be 18 years or over. Who performs the treatments?
The treatments are performed by fully qualified professionals. They all carry professional insurance and are fully trained. Is it permanent?
No. No manufacturer or provider can legally claim to permanently remove hair as it is not yet proven. However, our treatments are proven to permanently reduce the rate of hair growth and laser has been shown to be the most effective treatment for this. Are there any side effect?
All the side effects are discussed during your consultation. Although rare, these include mild swelling and pigmentation. This usually fades away soon after the treatment. It is very important to closely follow the post treatment advice provided by your practitioner. What are the post treatment protocols?
Post treatment advice is provided in your consultation. This includes applying a high factor sun block to treated areas. We also provide specialist products to give your skin the best results possible. Click here for our online shop. How many treatments will I need?
This is difficult to answer as every patient reacts differently. Most patients require an initial package of 6 treatments and then 1-2 maintenance treatments per year thereafter. After a test patch your practitioner will be better able to assess how many treatments you may need. |
